Victoria has worked with Douglas Home & Co since 2007. She is the Head of Agriculture and private client tax, overseeing the one-off tax planning work for the firm. Before starting work, Victoria studied at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne where she gained a degree in Accounting and Finance.
Victoria is a qualified Chartered Accountant. She started her training in accounts and audits and now specialises in tax planning. She is an expert in family succession planning and all areas of tax, including IHT, CGT, VAT, R&D, corporation tax and capital allowances. Being from a farming family, Victoria has a great understanding of agriculture, renewables and forestry. Victoria also sits on the Scottish Land & Estates Tax Committee.
When asked what she most enjoyed about working with DH&Co, Victoria said it was being able to offer a proactive service by being able to cater for the client’s business needs under one roof as their trusted advisor.
Its not just dealing with the routine accountant and tax affairs but thinking beyond this to ensure all bases are covered for now and the future. This makes every day at work different and means you don’t feel as if you are leaving the client with only half of a solution.
Victoria said her main client goals are to offer a high-quality personal service and to be able to understand each client individually and provide them with tailor made advice which is easy to understand. This allows her to help them minimise tax exposure both during lifetime and for their family in the future.
