Evelyn McLean

Evelyn’s tax career started in 1984 in the Capital Taxes Office in London where the intensive and comprehensive training she received provided a solid foundation in Wills, Trusts and Estates and the complexities of Inheritance Tax.

She then went to work for Private Bankers Coutts where for 10 years she dealt with the personal tax affairs of the Bank’s high net worth customers, the Bank’s directors and members of the Royal family.

In 1997 Evelyn returned to her native Scotland and joined Douglas Home & Co Ltd in 2007. After a number of years as a Tax Adviser in the Tax Planning team Evelyn now manages the Wills Trusts and Estates team where her knowledge and experience enables her to provide clients with practical and tax efficient options.

Evelyn is a Fellow of the Association of Tax Technicians (ATT), a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and for a number of years was a volunteer for the charity Tax Help for Older People. Evelyn was also involved in setting up the Scottish Borders Branch of the Chartered Institute of Taxation/Association of Tax Technicians (CIOT/ATT) and a committee member for a number of years.

Outside work Evelyn enjoys spending time with family and friends, keeping fit, horse riding, gardening and holidays in the sun.
