When a person passes away, their estate is administered as per the terms of their Will or as per the law of intestacy (where there is no Will). The assets are ingathered and distributed once a document called Confirmation has been granted by the Court. If relevant, any tax due by the estate should also be paid to HMRC during the administration period.

We will source all the financial documentation belonging to the person who died, correspond with banks or organisations that hold their money, deal with any money owed or due to the estate, calculate inheritance tax, communicate with HMRC and distribute the estate to beneficiaries in accordance with the Will or rules of intestacy.

She also deals with executry administration and prepares guardianship applications when a person has lost capacity without a Power of Attorney. She has been a Private Client solicitor for 15 years.
