We are delighted to announce that Douglas Home & Co will be merging with EQ Accountants, one of Scotland’s leading accountancy firms, from 1st May 2024. This strategic decision reflects our ongoing commitment to provide our clients with the highest level of service and expertise, while also positioning ourselves at the forefront of technological and regulatory advancements in our industry.
This merger brings with it a wealth of benefits for our valued clients. By joining forces with EQ Accountants, we will have enhanced access to a wider range of skills, technology, and resources. Our decision to merge with EQ Accountants was driven by their shared values and dedication to serving the SME sector in Scotland. We were particularly impressed by their recognition of the skills and talents within our team, as well as our position as a leader in the Scottish accountancy profession.
EQ, which currently has offices in Dundee, Forfar and Glenrothes, sold a major stake to Sumer last year, providing the funds to execute an ambitious growth plan in the next 3-5 years.
Sumer is the UK and Ireland’s leading mid-market accountancy practice, delivering professional support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across the UK and Ireland. It is a top 15 UK accountancy practice on a mission to champion SME businesses and offer local delivery supported by national expertise.
Darren Thomson, Sheryl Macaulay, Victoria Ivinson, Caroline Tice and Mike Johnston will all become partners of EQ Accountants while Alan Drummond will continue with the company as a consultant. Sheryl and Victoria will also be joining the EQ Executive Board to drive future strategy.
While our name will become EQ Accountants, our commitment to our clients remains unchanged. Our existing teams will also remain unchanged and will operate from our existing offices, ensuring a seamless transition during this period.
