The Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, has announced that the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) has been extended by one month. Therefore, the CJRS will be available until the end of June. The scheme, which allows firms to furlough employees with the government paying cash grants of 80% of their wages up to a maximum of £2,500, was originally open for three months and backdated from the 1 March to the end of May. The Chancellor has also re-iterated that the scheme is still under review and could be extended further if necessary.
Keep an eye out for tomorrow’s update where we will give further information on the various business support packages which have been announced.
