Bookkeeper - Scottish Borders

Douglas Home & Co are offering an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced bookkeeper to join our fast-growing team on a full or part-time basis. The successful candidate’s duties will include providing a full bookkeeping service for our clients as well as handling day to day queries, providing management reports and new system set-ups. 

Previous experience working in a similar role and a strong knowledge of Sage and Xero is essential, together with the ability to work well in high pressure situations and under your own initiative. A working knowledge of other cloud-based accounting systems would also be an advantage.Although you will be mainly based in the Scottish Borders, our bookkeeping team regularly visit client premises and our other offices, you must therefore hold a full driving licence and have access to your own car.

Senior Accounts Technician

Douglas Home & Co are offering an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced Accounts Technician to join our fast-growing team on a full-time basis.

As well as preparing annual accounts, the successful candidate will oversee a portfolio of clients ranging from sole traders and partnerships to limited companies, which involves managing all aspects of these client’s affairs to ensure an excellent service is provided.

A minimum of 2 years experience working in a similar role within an accountancy practice is essential, together with the ability to work well in high pressure situations and under your own initiative. A working knowledge of Iris Accountancy Suite would also be an advantage, although training will be given.

To succeed, you must be hardworking, self-motivated, enjoy a challenge and be willing to work as part of a team to tight deadlines. In return we offer an excellent salary and benefits package.

Douglas Home & Co are offering an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced Senior Auditor to join our busy team on a full-time basis, based in either the Scottish Borders or our Edinburgh office.

The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of audit work from the initial planning stages and fieldwork through to completion, ensuring a first-class service is provided to clients while adhering to our strict audit procedures.

Trainee Opportunity

Progressing to a permanent contract will allow you the opportunity to continue training on either a Modern Apprenticeship in Accountancy or in specialised areas such as tax, bookkeeping or payroll. IT Technology Technician

Douglas Home & Co are recruiting now for an IT Technician. With offices in Kelso, Melrose, Selkirk, Hawick, Edinburgh, Haddington, Alnwick and Penrith, this is an excellent opportunity to join our fast growing and busy IT team. As the main headquarters are based in Kelso, applicants would be required to work from this office.

As an IT Technician you will not only provide daily support and an on-going maintenance service for our own in-house systems but also provide support to our IT client base within the agreed SLA’s.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience in troubleshooting system and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults and a working knowledge in the following areas:

  • Windows Server experience from 2008 onwards
  • Experience with mail servers such as Exchange and Mdaemon
  • Windows desktop from version 7 onwards
  • Office 365
  • Virtualised environments such as Citrix, VMware or Hyper V
  • Backup technologies for Disaster recovery
  • Network troubleshooting
